Across many cultures, postpartum care has always been community-centered. In Igbo tradition, Ọmụgwọ reflects the deep practice of surrounding a new mother with care, nourishment, rest, practical support, and family presence.
OmugwoCare brings that wisdom into a modern, safe, non-medical, technology-enabled support model for families today.
What Ọmụgwọ Means
Ọmụgwọ is a treasured Igbo postpartum tradition that centers care around the mother after childbirth. It often includes support from mothers, mothers-in-law, aunties, elders, relatives, and trusted helpers who assist with meals, rest, household needs, baby transition, and emotional reassurance.
OmugwoCare honors the spirit of Ọmụgwọ while adapting it for modern families who may live far from relatives, work demanding jobs, lack nearby support, or need help organizing their village.
Why omugwocare exists
Many mothers return home after birth without enough practical support. Families may want to help but may not know what to do, when to show up, or how to organize care around the mother.
OmugwoCare exists to help families plan ahead, coordinate support, request trained non-medical caregivers, and build a clear 40-day support pathway centered on the mother.

Mother-First, Non-Medical, Culturally Responsive
OmugwoCare is mother-first. The first 40 days after childbirth are the foundation. We provide non-medical postpartum support and care navigation. We help with planning, coordination, caregiver matching requests, Family Care Circle organization, practical support at home, and referral navigation when needs exceed our scope.
We do not provide medical care, nursing care, therapy, diagnosis, emergency services, clinical monitoring, or treatment.
Our Long-Term Vision
OmugwoCare is building a new category of postpartum support: mother-first, culturally responsive, non-medical care navigation for the first 40 days and beyond.
Our long-term vision is to help mothers and families access practical support wherever they live through trained caregivers, employer benefits, partner-funded pilots, privacy-conscious data infrastructure, and future AI-assisted care coordination.
