How OmugwoCare Works
Start With the Mother
OmugwoCare begins with the mother.
Across many cultures, postpartum care has always been community-centered. In Igbo tradition, Ọmụgwọ reflects the deep practice of surrounding a new mother with care, nourishment, rest, practical support, and family presence.
OmugwoCare brings that wisdom into a modern, safe, non-medical, technology-enabled support model for families today.
Step 1: Join the Waitlist or Request Updates
Mothers, families, caregivers, partners, and employers can begin by joining the OmugwoCare waitlist or requesting app updates.
This helps OmugwoCare understand who is interested, what kind of support is needed, and which communities may be ready for early services or pilot programs.
Step 2: Share Basic Support Needs
OmugwoCare may ask about:
Please do not submit urgent medical, emergency, or sensitive health information through OmugwoCare forms.
Step 3: Build a 40-Day Mother Care Plan
The 40-Day Mother Care Plan helps families prepare for practical non-medical support after childbirth.
The plan may include:
Step 4: Create a Family Care Circle
A Family Care Circle helps identify who will support the mother.
This may include:
The goal is to make support visible, organized, and easier to activate.
Step 5: Request Caregiver Matching
Some families may need support beyond what relatives and friends can provide.
OmugwoCare may help review caregiver matching requests based on:
Caregiver matching is not guaranteed and depends on availability, screening, readiness, and fit.
Step 6: Use Support and Referral Navigation
OmugwoCare provides non-medical postpartum support and care navigation.
If needs exceed OmugwoCare’s scope, OmugwoCare may help families identify appropriate referral categories or encourage families to contact licensed providers, emergency services, or community resources.
OmugwoCare does not diagnose, treat, provide medical advice, provide therapy, provide nursing care, provide emergency services, or clinically monitor mothers or babies.
Step 7: Grow Through Pilots and App Updates
OmugwoCare is preparing future app features, partner pilots, and employer-supported pathways.
Planned app-related features may include:
