OmugwoCare was created from a simple belief: after birth, the mother should not be left alone to carry everything.
Across many cultures, postpartum care has traditionally been community-centered. In Igbo tradition, Ọmụgwọ reflects the practice of surrounding a new mother with care, nourishment, rest, practical support, and family presence.
OmugwoCare brings the spirit of this tradition into a modern, safe, non-medical, technology-enabled support model for families today. We help mothers and families organize the practical support they need during the early postpartum period, especially during the first 40 days after childbirth.
What Ọmụgwọ Means
Ọmụgwọ is a treasured Igbo postpartum tradition centered on caring for the mother after childbirth. Traditionally, mothers, mothers-in-law, aunties, elders, relatives, and trusted helpers may come together to support a new mother with meals, rest, household needs, newborn-related support, and emotional reassurance.
OmugwoCare honors the spirit of Ọmụgwọ while adapting its village-centered approach for modern families. Today, families may live far from relatives, work demanding jobs, or simply need help organizing the people and resources around a new mother.
OmugwoCare helps bring that village of support closer to mothers and families through practical, non-medical postpartum support and care navigation.
Why omugwocare exists
Many mothers return home after childbirth without enough practical support. Family members may want to help but may not know what the mother needs, when to show up, or how to organize care around her.
OmugwoCare exists to help families build and coordinate that village of support.
We help families plan ahead, organize their Family Care Circle, request trained non-medical caregivers, coordinate practical support, and navigate the first 40 days after birth with greater confidence.
Our approach is centered on the mother, while recognizing that caring for a new mother also involves her family, newborn, caregivers, and wider support network.

Mother-First, Non-Medical, Culturally Responsive
OmugwoCare is mother-first. The first 40 days after childbirth are the foundation. We provide non-medical postpartum support and care navigation. We help with planning, coordination, caregiver matching requests, Family Care Circle organization, practical support at home, and referral navigation when needs exceed our scope.
We do not provide medical care, nursing care, therapy, diagnosis, emergency services, clinical monitoring, or treatment.
Our Long-Term Vision
OmugwoCare is building a new category of postpartum support: mother-first, culturally responsive, non-medical care navigation for the first 40 days and beyond.
Our long-term vision is to help mothers and families access practical support wherever they live through trained caregivers, employer benefits, partner-funded pilots, privacy-conscious data infrastructure, and future AI-assisted care coordination.
