Pilot Purpose

The Omugwo Village Pilot is designed to test the feasibility, acceptability, and implementation readiness of a mother-first, culturally responsive, non-medical postpartum support model.
The pilot focuses on practical support, care navigation, caregiver matching requests, Family Care Circle coordination, and support-readiness during the first 40 days after childbirth.

Who the Pilot Serves

The pilot may serve:

  • Pregnant mothers planning before birth
  • Postpartum mothers within the first 40 days
  • Mothers with limited local family support
  • Immigrant and diaspora families
  • Black, culturally diverse, rural, and underserved families
  • Working mothers preparing for return-to-work
  • Families referred by partner organizations

Pilot Scale

Recommended starting pilot:

  • 25 to 50 mothers
  • 3 to 6 months
  • 5 to 10 trained non-medical caregivers
  • One partner organization or small partner network
  • One launch geography or service area

  • Mother intake and support assessment
  • My 40-Day Mother Care Plan
  • Family Care Circle coordination
  • Caregiver matching request
  • Rest and meal support planning
  • Light household support planning
  • Newborn transition support
  • Referral escalation pathway
  • Caregiver training and quality tracking
  • De-identified partner reporting

Evaluation Metrics

The pilot evaluates feasibility, implementation, satisfaction, and support readiness. It does not claim guaranteed clinical outcomes.

The pilot can track:

  • Mothers enrolled
  • Needs assessments completed
  • 40-Day Mother Care Plans completed
  • Family Care Circle participation
  • Caregiver matching requests
  • Support visits or support hours coordinated, if applicable
  • Referral escalation categories
  • Caregiver training completion
  • Mother satisfaction
  • Self-reported support readiness
  • Partner satisfaction
  • Service gaps and improvement opportunities

Partner Benefits

Partners receive a structured way to support mothers during the first 40 days after childbirth while maintaining a non-medical, culturally responsive, privacy-conscious approach.

Data and Privacy

Partner reporting will be de-identified and aggregated. Individual mother information will not be shared with employers or partners without appropriate consent and legal review.
